LG Stylo 6 Fastboot Mode, Recovery Mode & Bootloder Unlock Status

Stylo 6 is the latest and the last iteration in the LG Stylo series. There won’t be any Stylo 7 in the future.
It’s a mid-range Android smartphone with stylus pen support.

On Stylo 6, you can access the Fastboot mode via USB Debugging. The fastboot mode is used for Bootloader unlocking, which in turn aids in rooting the device.

In this post, we are going to put our Stylo 6 into Fastboot & Recovery Mode as follows –

LG Stylo 6 Fastboot Mode LM-Q730

To enable USB Debugging, we need to turn on “Developer Options”. The developer mode is hidden in Settings.

We can unhide it by tapping the Build number 7 times. Let’s see how to do that –

Open the Settings app located on your Stylo 6 home screen.

Now, scroll down and select “System”.

Now, Go to “About Phone” > “Software Info”.

The 2nd last option on this page is “Build Number”. Tap it 7 times to become a developer.

A confirmation text flashes on the screen – “You are now a developer!”.

To open “Developer Options”, we need to go 2 steps back.

Tap the back button 2 times as shown above.

On the “System” page, there is a new setting “Developer Options” above “About phone”.

Tap it to open. Accept the warning by hitting “OK”.

Scroll down and look for “USB Debugging”.

Turn on USB Debugging and tap “OK” when the “Allow USB debugging” prompt appears on the screen.

Now, we are ready to connect our Stylo 6 to the PC for USB Debugging.

A notification on the phone shows “USB debugging connected”.

Check the “Device Manager” on your PC for the driver installation status. We need to install the LGE Mobile USB Modem & LGE Mobile Serial Port driver for USB Debugging.

Check your Stylo 6 screen, there must be an “Allow USB debugging” request. Tap “Allow” to authorize the connected PC for USB Debugging.

Now, download and install the “Minimal ADB & Fastboot” tool on your computer.

Launch Minimal ADB and Fastboot.

It opens the cmd window. We are going to use it to write the ADB commands.

Type adb devices and click Enter on your PC keyboard.

The connected device is visible as LMQ730. This is the model number of LG Stylo 6.

Now, let’s type the bootloader command to enter fastboot mode.

The command line for the same is adb reboot bootloader

After writing this command my Stylo 6 simply rebooted to the home screen.

Let’s try another fastboot command.

The 2nd command to enter Fastboot mode is adb reboot fastboot

My Stylo 6 is now in the fastboot mode.

In this mode, we need to use the volume rocker for navigation and the power button for selection.

Move down from “Reboot system now” to “Enter recovery” using the volume down key.

Press the power button once to enter the “Recovery Mode”.

We are now in the LG Stylo 6 Recovery Mode.

This mode is used to Hard Reset the device.

To reset your Stylo 6, go down from “Reboot System now” to “Wipe data/factory reset”.

Now, press the power key once.

This is one more confirmation step.

You need to go down from “Cancel” to “Factory data reset”.

To begin the “Factory data reset” tap the power key once.

The 3rd option in the Fastboot mode is “Reboot to bootloader”.

This mode is used to unlock the Bootloader which is necessary for rooting a device.

Press the power key once to reboot your Stylo 6 into bootloader mode.

The bootloader mode on Stylo 6 is not accessible. Unfortunately, there is no way to unlock the Stylo 6 bootloader. As a result, it’s not possible the root Stylo 6 as of now.

The last option in the Fastboot mode is “Power off”. You can use it to turn off your device.
