We reset the phone using the volume and power button only when locked out due to a forgotten PIN, pattern, or password. Doing a factory reset via the Recovery Mode on Stylo 5 triggers “Factory Reset Protection” also known as FRP.
We need the claim ownership of the device by signing in to the last-synced Google account. The good thing is we can get past this Google verification screen on Stylo 5 using the latest hack.
After doing a hard reset using the volume down and power button, I’ve landed on the “Welcome” page of the setup wizard.
Let’s use the forward arrow to proceed further.
In the next step, we need to connect to the internet via Wifi or Mobile data.
To proceed further let’s hit “DON’T COPY” on the “Copy apps & data” page.
This brings me to the Screen lock password verification page. I don’t remember the password. The other option is “USE MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT INSTEAD”. Select this option.
It takes us to the “Verify your account” page. To continue further, we need to sign-in with the last-synced Google account.
To get past this Google verification screen we are going to use the latest hack. Let’s see how to do this –
How to bypass Google Verification on LG Stylo 5 & 5x lm-q730 Boost Mobile, MetroPCS, AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Spectrum
Let’s divide the process into 4 parts for ease of understanding –
STEP 1: Lock a SIM card using another phone and insert this locked SIM into Stylo 5
We need a locked SIM card to bypass the Google verification on LG Stylo 5.
I’m using LG K40 for this purpose. I’ve inserted a MetroPCS SIM in my K40.
If using an LG Phone for this purpose, go to –
Settings > Lock Screen & Security
Now, look for “Set up SIM card lock” and select this option.
Tap “Lock SIM Card” to enable it.
It’s asking for the current PIN. The default PIN for a MetroPCS SIM is 1234
Type 1234 and hit OK.
SIM Card lock is enabled. Now, remove this locked SIM from your phone.
We need to insert this locked SIM into Stylo 5.
Use a SIM ejector tool to pull out the SIM tray.
Place the locked SIM in its respect slot and push back the sim tray.
STEP 2: Turn on Bluetooth and receive a file via Bluetooth
Now, the phone is asking for the PIN code. Enter 1234 and hit the “tick icon”.
This is a crucial step –
We need to swipe down the screen starting from the “Not signed in” notification as marked in the above screenshot.
Don’t swipe in the upward direction. Swipe down from “Not signed in” to the bottom of the screen.
If done correctly, you’ll see quick access icons on the top.
Long-Press the “Bluetooth icon” to open the Bluetooth page.
Turn on Bluetooth as depicted in the above screenshot.
We need to send an image file from another device via Bluetooth.
Once again I’m using LG K40 to send a screenshot via Bluetooth.
Open the Gallery app and hit the “Share icon” to send this file.
Choose the sharing medium as Bluetooth and turn it on when prompted.
Select “LG Stylo 5” among the list of “AVAILABLE DEVICES”.
The file is being sent to Stylo 5.
Look for the “File Transfer” pop-up on your Stylo 5. Hit “ACCEPT” to receive the image file.
Now, tap the “3 dots icon” on the top-right corner and select “Received files”.
Tap the received image file to open it.
STEP 3: Get access to the Screen lock page & add a PIN, Pattern on Password
By default, it’s set to open with the Gallery app.
Change the default app to “Photos” and select “JUST ONCE” or “ALWAYS” to open this file via the Photos app.
Give access to the Photos app by hitting “ALLOW”.
The file is now open. Hit the “Share icon” to proceed further.
Use “Email” as the sharing medium.
Give access to the “Email” app by tapping “ALLOW”.
In the next step, we need to select the Email provider as “Other”.
Type just any email id in the “EMAIL ADDRESS” field just to highlight the “MANUAL SETUP” option.
Select “MANUAL SETUP” as shown above.
Choose the Account Type as “Microsoft” and click “NEXT”.
We are now on the “Server Settings” page.
Scroll down to the bottom of this page and select “Add” to add a “Client certificate”.
It says we need to change to a secure screen lock to use credential storage.
Hit “CHANGE” to accept this request.
This brings us to the “Select screen lock” page.
Set a PIN, Pattern, or Password. This new screen lock will replace the old lock.
I’m adding a PIN lock.
Tap “No, thanks” on the secure startup page and click “NEXT”.
Let’s add an easy to remember PIN lock 1234
Confirm the PIN and hit OK.
A confirmation text flashes on the screen “Screen lock has been changed”.
We are all good. We have replaced the old screen lock with this new PIN. Let’s use this PIN to bypass the Google verification screen.
Use the back button and keep going back until you reach the first page i.e. the “Welcome” screen.
STEP 4: Go back to the welcome page and bypass google verification on LG Stylo 5
We are once again on the Welcome page. Use the forward button to move ahead.
Hit “NEXT” on the internet connection page.
Tap “DON’T COPY” to proceed further.
We are once again on the lock screen verification page.
Verify with the PIN we added a few steps ago i.e. 1234
NOTE: After the new security update, it skips the “Verify PIN” screen when you click on the “Don’t copy” option and directly brings you to the “Google – Verify your account” screen. We need the screen lock verification page to bypass the Google lock.
If you’re facing this issue then please follow the updated tutorial using the below link –
The PIN verification was successful.
This time we get the “Skip” option on the Google sign-in page.
Hit “Skip” or add any Google account. The last-synced account is not necessary.
Now, Accept Google services terms and conditions.
The final page of the setup wizard is the “Legal documents’ page.
Tick all the “I agree” checkboxes and click “DONE”.
The Setup Wizard is complete and we’ve landed on the LG Stylo 5 home screen.
