Is your LG Stylo 6 is all dead and not turning on? Don’t worry we are going to fix your device.
If your phone fails to turn on or charge, there can be multiple reasons for this behavior. Before sending the phone for a hardware repair, we should try to boot it using the below troubleshooting steps.
The possible reasons for the phone not turning on are – software issues, bad power button, liquid damage, physical damage, bad battery, defective charging port/charger, a bad motherboard, etc.
Let’s go through the below troubleshooting steps to bring back our LG Stylo 5 to life –
While setting up a screen lock on LG Stylo 5, we get an additional option for added security in the form of Secure-Startup. When turned on, it’ll ask for the secure startup PIN/Pattern/password after every restart.
You won’t get access to calls, messages, notifications & alarm sounds until you enter the correct secure startup PIN, Pattern, or Password.
In this post, we are going to learn how to bypass the secure startup screen on LG Stylo 5. Let’s see how to do this –
I’m stuck on the Secure startup screen on my LG Stylo 5. It’s asking for the lock screen pattern.
I don’t remember the correct pattern. We get 30 attempts to unlock the secure startup screen.
After 20 attempts we need to restart the phone and try again.
The same thing happened when 10 attempts were left. I restarted the phone and tried again.
On the final attempt, it gives a warning – The phone will reset after the last failed attempt and all your internal storage data will be erased.
There is no need to wait until 30 attempts to reset the phone. We can do this directly via the Recovery mode.
You cannot bypass the LG Stylo 5 secure startup without a reset.
We need to power off the phone. When the phone is off, use the volume down and power button to hard reset the phone.
Let’s see how to do this –
How to bypass Secure Startup on LG Stylo 5
Long-press the power button to get the power options on the screen.
Tap “POWER OFF” to turn off your Stylo 5.
To put your Stylo 5 into recovery mode –
Turn off your phone
Press the volume down and power button to turn on the phone.
When LG Stylo 5 shows up on the screen, release the power key and hold it again.
Now, keep holding both the keys until your reach the “Factory data reset” page (Don’t release the volume down button during the whole process).
We are now in recovery mode.
Use the volume down button to move down from No(Exit) to Yes. Now press the power key to select “Yes”.
Repeat the steps.
Once again move down from No to Yes and press the power button.
This step will initiate the factory data reset. We need to wait for a few minutes. Once the reset is done we will reach the “Welcome page”.
We have landed on the first screen of the setup wizard.
Use the forward button to proceed further.
In the next step, we need to connect to the internet.
Now, tap “DON’T COPY”, when on the “Copy apps & data” page.
Once again it’s asking for the secure startup pattern. As I don’t know the pattern, I’ll use the 2nd option – “USE MY GOOGLE ACCOUNT INSTEAD”.
This brings me to the Google verification screen. We need to verify with the previously synced Google account on this device.
Enter your Google account credentials and follow the on-screen prompts to finish the setup wizard.
In case, you don’t remember the last-synced account details, follow the below hack to get past this Google lock screen –
How to bypass Google Lock/Verification on LG Stylo 5
Let’s divide the FRP bypass procedure into 4 steps –
STEP 1: Use another phone to lock a SIM and insert this locked SIM in Stylo 5
I’m using LG K40 and MetroPCS SIM.
Let’s lock the MetroPCS SIM Card. If using an LG phone, Go to –
Settings > General Tab> Lock Screen & Security.
Now, scroll down and select “Set up SIM card lock”.
On the next page, tap “Lock SIM Card”.
It’s asking for the current SIM PIN. The default MetroPCS PIN is 1234
Enter 1234 and tap “OK”. The SIM card lock is enabled.
Let’s insert this locked SIM in Stylo 5.
Use a SIM ejector tool to pull out the SIM tray. Refer to the above picture.
Now, place the locked SIM in its respective slot as shown above.
STEP 2: Use another phone to send an image file to Stylo 5 via Bluetooth
Once you insert the SIM, it asks for the SIM PIN.
Enter the PIN 1234 and tap the “tick mark” as shown above.
Now, there is a “Not signed in” notification on the screen.
We need to swipe down the screen starting from the “Not signed in” notification to the bottom of the screen. This is marked in the above screenshot.
If done correctly, you see a few Quick access icons on the top.
Long-press the Bluetooth icon to launch the Bluetooth page.
Turn on Bluetooth.
Once again we need another phone to send an image file to Stylo 5.
I’m sending a picture from K40 to Stylo 5 via Bluetooth.
Let’s open the gallery app and use the “share icon” to send a file.
We need to share this image file via Bluetooth.
Select the LG Stylo 5 Bluetooth device to proceed further.
The file is being sent.
Tap “ACCEPT” to receive the file on your Stylo 5.
Now, click the “3 dots” icon and select “Received files”.
The Screenshot.png file is received via Bluetooth.
Tap the file to open.
STEP 3: Get access to the Screen lock setup page to add a new PIN/Pattern/Password
The default app is set as “Gallery”. We need to open the file via the “Photos” app.
Select “Photos” to open the file.
Tap “ALLOW” to give access to the photos app.
When the file is open, tap the “Share icon” to send this file.
This time, choose the sharing medium as “Email”.
Allow the Email app to access your contacts and other files on the device. Tap “ALLOW” to do the same.
Now, choose the last option on the “Select email provider” page i.e. “Other”.
In the Email Address field, enter any email id just to highlight the “MANUAL SETUP” option.
Now select “MANUAL SETUP” to move ahead.
Choose “Microsoft Exchange” as the account type and click “NEXT”.
This brings us to the Server Settings page.
At the bottom of the page, there’s an option – “Client Certificate”. Tap “Add” to add a client certificate.
It says – we need to change to a secure screen lock to proceed further.
Hit “CHANGE” to move ahead.
This time we are on the Select Screen lock page.
It allows us to add a Screen lock PIN, Pattern, or Password. This new lock will erase the old lock.
Let’s add a Screen PIN.
Select “No, thanks” on the Secure start-up page.
Let’s set an easy PIN 1234 and hit “NEXT”.
Re-enter the PIN to confirm.
The Screen lock has been changed. Let’s use this new PIN to get past the Google lock screen.
We need to go back to the welcome page using the back button. Keep going back until you reach the first page of the setup wizard.
STEP 4: Go back to the Welcome page and finish the setup wizard
Once again we are on the Welcome page.
Use the forward arrow to move ahead.
Hit “NEXT” on the Internet connection page.
Tap “DON’T COPY” on the next page.
Now, we are on the screen lock verification page. We need to verify with the Screen PIN.
Use the PIN we added a few steps ago 1234
Enter the PIN code and hit OK.
We have successfully verified the Screen PIN.
Use the “Skip” option on the Google account “Sign in” page to move ahead.
Now, accept Google services terms and conditions.
Tick the “I agree” checkbox on the “Legal documents” page and select “DONE”.
The Setup wizard is complete. We have successfully reached the LG Stylo 5 home screen thus bypassing the secure startup screen.
