LG Tribute 5 is a global phone. It is sold by Boost Mobile as a CDMA phone & can be unlocked for GSM use within the USA or for international use. By default, it’s supposed to work on Sprint network so the APN setting is preconfigured as such & cannot be modified.
After rooting the phone and unlocking it for GSM networks, the APN field becomes editable. But if you’re frequently switching carriers especially overseas, then adding an APN every time can be cumbersome. To tackle this we can replace the apns-conf.xml file with a modified one, which contains APN settings of almost all popular carriers in the world. Your tribute 5 should be rooted before following this procedure

First of all, download and install Root Explorer either from Play Store or via below link –
Also download the modified apns-conf.xml file from below download link and save it to your phone’s internal storage or to extrenal sd card.
Open Root Explorer. Mount as R/W (Read/Write) if prompted for root access, allow it.
Now select the “STORAGE” Tab on top right.
Depending on the location of the apn file browse for it. If you’ve saved it to internal storage select “sdcard0” else “external_SD”
Check box in front of apns-conf.xml file.
Click on the first icon i.e “copy”. Now that the file is copied, we will proceed to the folder where we want to repalce it with existing apn file.
Select the Top Left Tab “Root” and look for “etc” folder
Open the folder, and select “copy here” . If you’re prompted with a warning accept it.
